Dan Shannon – Psych Pop

Dan Shannon's wood sculpture wood sculpture

June 4 – July 4, 2021

Born and raised in Dundas, woodworker Dan Shannon explores surrealism through a contemporary lens. Known primarily for his impeccably crafted functional work, his recent sculptures investigate his concurrent interest in philosophy. These carved organic shapes are generated from automatic doodles giving form to the artist’s subconscious thought fused with present day cultural symbols. They are ambiguous, sometimes whimsical, and highly imaginative.

Review by Regina Haggo “Dan Shannon’s wood cut ‘creatures of an alternate or imagined reality‘“. (The Hamilton Spectator. 10 July 2021).
