Joanne Cunnington – Ceramics

a 70s retrospective

July 6 – 29, 2018
Opening Reception Friday July 6, 7 – 9:30pm

Joanne Cunnington, exhibition invitationThis exhibition celebrates the work of Joanne Cunnington. Born in Yorkshire UK, she was trained as a potter in Montreal during the early 1960s when the work of Bernard Leach was hugely influential. The clay was deeply respected for its beauty, its potential and its limitations. In this work – created during the late sixties and seventies – we see a directness and immediacy merged with elegant natural forms which are respected for their uncluttered simplicity.

Review by Regina Haggo “An affair with clay”. (The Hamilton Spectator. 30 July 2018).
