Kayo O’Young is a self-taught Ontario artist who is recognized as one of Canada’s finest porcelain potters.  He has served as both teacher and inspiration to numerous potters nationwide.  Kayo’s work has been the focus of numerous exhibits in prestigious museums, galleries, private and public collections worldwide including the Gardiner Museum, Toronto; the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles: and the Canadian Clay and Glass Museum, Kitchener.  His work has also been the subject of two films:  The Hand and the Spirit (TV Ontario, 1992), and Playing with the Fire (CBC Arts and Entertainment, 1993).  His masterful throwing technique, elegant forms, colourful glazes, and intuitively spontaneous decoration distinguish his body of work.
