Marcela Prikryl

Marcela received her PhD in Materials Science at the Technical University in Ostrava, Czech Republic, and also attended the Ostrava School of Art.  She initially worked as a scientist at the Technical University in Ostrava and then at McMaster University in Hamilton.  In Canada, she studied at the Dundas Valley School of Art and the Halliburton School of Art, and has also been part of a local printmaking group with presses in Freelton, Ont.   Her work captures people and places through pen and ink, printmaking, pastels and painting.  Notably, she was a courtroom artist for the Hamilton Spectator, and was commissioned to produce portraits for the Dundas Hockey Arena.  She has participated in numerous juried and solo exhibitions and received several awards.  She has also been very active in the arts community of Southern Ontario, worked at the McMaster Museum of Art, and served on the Boards of the Carnegie Gallery and the Dundas Valley School of Art.
