Today’s Modernism: Art + Architecture

September 9 – October 2, 2016
Opening Reception Friday September 16, 7 – 9:30pm

Today's Modernism, images from posterThink of Modernism as a language – direct and unadorned, straightforward, composed, open and clear. Architects and artists in our area continue to explore and expand this aesthetic, moving toward a 21st Century idea of ‘mid-century’ art and design. Set in the Carnegie’s soaring Modernist Atrium, this exhibition highlights new Modernist architecture in our region, and pairs these designs with the work of three accomplished local artists inspired by the same aesthetic. The show considers: What is Modernism today?
